Festival of Ram Navami
According to Hindu Religious Beliefs, In Treta Yug, Lord Rama is observed as the 7th Avtaar of Lord Vishnu because he was born as a son of King Dashratha and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He is also known as a symbol of morality and ethics and Maryada Purusottam. Lord Rama was the first in Kingship, who had to retreat due to a conspiracy, and his father king Dasrath had to send him for banish (vanvaas) for up to 14 years. He ruled the kingdom once he came back after 14 years.
Significance of Ram Navami in India
Ram Navami Celebration is most important in all Hindu Festivals. The significance of festival expresses the birth of Lord Ram as Maryada Purshottam to honour Lord Vishnu as Ram Avatar and establishment of Dharma in the world.
Ram Navami celebration starts in the early morning with the water offering to the God Sun (Surya Dev) to get blessings from him as it is was a ritual in Ayodhya that the God Sun is an ancestor of the Lord Rama.
According to Hindu mythology and the greatest Sanskrit epic Ramayana, Lord Ram is believed to be the greatest Hindu god and has a special place in the hearts of people beyond the universe.
The glory of this festival is in cites of Uttar Pradesh, Nepal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Most of the Hindu People celebrates with great dedication and enthusiasm. They gather into temples to celebrate their Lord Rama’s birth anniversary around March and April every year.

According to the Hindu Panchang, Ram Navami falls in the Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month on the 9th day of Chaitra Navratri. The exact date of Ram Navami may vary from year to year.

Traditional Value of Ram Navami
In Treta Yug, there was a King named Dashrath who has three queens, Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. They were unable to gave birth to the next ruler of Ayodhya for a long period of time. The sacred ritual called ‘Putra Kamesti Yagna’ was then performed by the queens, as advised by the great Sage Vashishth. The King Dashrath distribute a holy kheer to his three wives. And, then on the ninth day of the Hindu month, Chaitra, queen Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Ram, and queens Sumitra, gave birth to Lakshman and Shatrughna whereas queen Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharat.
Best Puja Vidhi of Ram Navami
On this momentous day, devotees observe a whole day fast, which starts from the morning and reach till to the next morning by consuming only fruits and water. They worships Lord Rama and also conduct bhajans and kirtans, listen or narrate the epic Ramayana.
In some parts of the nation, Hindus also perform the observance of Kanya Pujan on this day. They invite nine small girls from the age of 2-10 years at their home and perform puja by paying respect as Devi (Maa Durga Avtaar), as stated by Hindu’s mythological belief. They also offer a prasad consisting of sooji ka halwa, kala chana and puri which is prepared for the girls during the puja ritual. Then, some gifts are also distributed among them at the end of ritual.
At this time, devotees pray for peace, prosperity and success with blessings from Maa Durga and Lord Rama.
