What is Novel Coronavirus?
A novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new variant of coronavirus related to an identical family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some variety of common cold.
The disease was first identified in Wuhan, China, named coronavirus (COVID-19).Formerly, this disease was mentioned as ‘2019 novel corona virus’ or ‘2019-nCoV.’
What is Covid-19?
COVID-19 is a contagious disease originated by the newly formed coronavirus. This new virus was unfamiliar prior to the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. COVID-19 is currently a pandemic influencing many countries globally.
What are the symptoms of Covid-19?
Symptoms may involve fever, cough, cold, tiredness, and shortness of breath. In some severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia or breathing difficulties, and rarely it can cause death.
How does Covid-19 transmitted?
The virus is transmitted through immediate contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person through coughing and sneezing, and touching surfaces contaminated with the virus.
What causes coronavirus?
Coronavirus causes respiratory infection including pneumonia, cold, sneezing and coughing, and diarrhea. It transmitted human to human via airborne droplets. Coronavirus enters in the human cell through membrane ACE-2 exopeptidase receptor. WHO and ECDC advised avoiding public places and close contact with infected persons.
Who is at increased risk?
Many people contaminated with the COVID-19 will experience normal to average respiratory illness and recovered those who have strong immunity power without any special treatment. Especially, older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more chances to develop serious illness.
How to protect yourself?
There is no coronavirus vaccine yet. Prohibition requires constant hand-washing (using an alcohol-based soap or hand sanitizer frequently and not touching your face), coughing into the bend of your elbow, staying home when you are sick, and wear a face-covering cloth while traveling outside or public places in case of absolute necessity. And also practice social distancing.
What treatments are available?
To date, no medication is recommended to treat COVID-19, and no cure is available. Antibiotics aren’t effective against viral infections such as Novel coronavirus disease. Researchers are testing a variety of possible treatments.
Treatment is directed at relieving symptoms and may include:
Pain relievers
Cough syrup or medication
Constant Rest
Fluid intake
